Make Your Own Carving Light

A cheaper, easier  alternative

by Maureen Williams

These cheap, flexible little book lights are available from a lot of the cheap stores for about $2.50 and require very little modification to make a superb carving light.

By removing the the cover from the LED and then breaking the light housing with a pair of pliers or cutters you can then cover the globe with a length of white drinking straw to diffuse the light. You may need to slit the straw to get it to fit over the leads from the LED. Then use a piece of tape to hold the straw in place.
