I've used an emu egg with four basic tutorial images. The shapes are highlight with rhinestone chain with hologram glitter on the scrolls. 

The oval is outlined with fine gold cord and decorative braid. The small centre oval is Gallery Glass Window Color

This is a goose egg and it was done with the new decorative Kleenex. Picture shows 3 views of the egg. The blue in the shapes part of it is Crayola glitter glue

I divided my goose egg into thirds, drew on three ovals and transferred the pattern into each oval. I used a combination of wax, dyes, and acrylic paint to complete the design. 

The background (which is difficult to see) is marbled. Trying to decide how to finish it. Will probably add some simple gold filigree scrolls to complement the scrolls in the design.
