GLASS WINDOW
by Maureen Williams

This is a very simple effect which is excellent for showing off images
with a central area of focus - for example, flowers.

Requirements

Paint Shop Pro  - download a free 30-day trial from here
Your choice of image.
My zip file containing the two masks and the bearfill.bmp.
Unzip the masks into your Mask Folder and the bearfill.bmp into the Patterns folder.

Unfortunately, as these masks have been gathered over the years I'm unaware
who originally created them. So if they are yours, or you know who made them
please email me so I can give proper acknowledgement of the creator.

This tutorial is written in Version 9 but could be done in earlier versions.

Remember to save your work frequently.

If you wish to use my image left click for a larger image
and then right click and save to your hard drive.

If necessary, resize your image to 400 pixels on the longest side.

Remember: Save your file frequently.

Step 1
Open your image in PSP - one with a central area of focus is best.
In the Layer palette promote the background layer.
Apply the fadebgmask2 mask.

Step 2
In the Layer palette right click on one of the layers. Select Merge > Merge Group.

Step 3
Create a new blank raster layer and drag below the group layer.
Flood fill with a complimentary colour - I have used #C3F5EB.

Step 4
Click back on the group layer and add a new raster layer.
Flood fill with your chosen colour. I have used white but a gradient also works well.
Apply the mark_25 mask
Right click on one of the new group layers and Merge Group.

Step 5
Turn off the first two layers so only the window mask layer is active.
Select > All (Ctrl + A)
Select > Float (Ctrl + F)
Select > Defloat

Step 6
Apply your favourite special effect. I have used Super Blade Pro
and the preset I have chosen is one from Wool Sweater Street
It is #11from the Tiffany Collection.
Be sure to check out all the great presets available from this site.

Now add a border or frame of your choice.

Step 7
If you wish to use my border suggestion follow on here.
Image > Add Borders using background colour white and 8 pixels wide.
Use the Magic Wand to select the border.

Step 8
Effects > Texture Effects > Sculpture using my pale gold settings show below.
Hint: You may wish to save this preset for future use.

Step 9
Image > Add Borders using background colour white and 25 pixels wide.
Use the Magic Wand to select the border.
Go to the Materials Palette and select the pattern background.
Locate the current image (it will be at the top)
Set the angle and scale to 45.
Flood-fill the border with the pattern.
Keep the border selected.
Go to Effects > Texture Effects > Mosaic Glass and use the Default setting.

Resize your image as desired.
